Mapix CMS 0.9.3 released

Mapix CMS is a XML-based framework and CMS, written in PHP and using XML standards such as XSL, XForms, RSS, XML Schemas, SVG...

This release adds the following features :

- An new online SVG Editor
- A package manager to upgrade/install/uninstall features
- Save and restore files versions
- Lock and unlock files
- Extract ZIP files
- Multiple pipeline (maps)
- Advanced caching (content and template caching)
- An online documentation package
- An improved photo Gallery using lightbox

This version has taken a long time to release because all programs and files have been reorganized, optimized and debugged to fit a packaged and multisite architecture.

There will probably be one or two more minor versions (0.9.X) to debug and improve the existing features before releasing the 1.0 version (likely about june, 2008).

This version will be the first stable version, and will greatly improve and simplify the back office user interface.

See http://mapixcms.org/doc for more information.

The demo site has also been upgraded http://demo.mapixcms.org, but package install and upgrades have been disabled.

See you for the next release !

Mapix CMS 0.7.5 released

Mapix CMS is a full XML content manager system, based on XML standards (XSL, XSD, XForms, RSS...) and written in PHP.

This release adds many standard XML schemas (HTML, RSS, XSL, XSD, XForms...) to create compliant XML documents directly with the online XML editor.

The XML editor has also been improved to be faster and more easy to use.

Many efforts have been done trying to make Mapix PHP4 compatible, but I could not test this myself... Any feed back on this would be appreciated. I will try to downgrade my PHP install to test the PHP4 compatibility feature for the next release.

The next release will deal with improving the XML editor (again...) by adding specific controls depending on data types :

- dates would be editable using a calendar,
- numbers format will be controlled,
- URI would use a file selector, based on the folder editor...

I will also introduce a user feature (for multiple users to log in the back-office) and maybe a photo gallery template.

See you for the next release !

Mapix CMS 0.7.4 bug fix

Mapix CMS is a simple and light content management system 100% based on XML documents, no database is needed.

The first 0.7.4 released contained a bug in the cache function that made cached files blanks and threw an error message in the news page, like those on http://www.mapixcms.org http://demo.mapixcms.org.

I suppose this discouraged people from downloading Mapix CMS because there was no download since this bug !

Now don't be afraid, test Mapix CMS and if you are not satisfied, then I'll repay you ...remember it's free ! lol

Sorry for this bug and I hope to see you for the next release.

Mapix CMS 0.6.5 released : a simple XML based CMS

Mapix CMS is based on XML documents : XSL templates, XML Schemas to define document types, RSS feeds, Google sitemaps...

This release provides a nearly fully functional XML document editor in read and write mode (a little job remains to enable the "add node" functionality).

Javascript and ajax features have been added in the back office for it to be nearer from a desktop interface and easier to use : contextual menus, multiple asynchronous upload, drag and drop folders and files in the folder editor, drag and drop xml nodes in the xml editor...

Several bugs have been fixed in the core program (include/mapix.php file).

The next release will provide the complete xml editor, new schemas and templates such as a photo gallery and multiple users and maybe a sitemap editor to ease the mapix.xml file edition.

Mapix CMS official (http://mapixcms.org) and demo (http://demo.mapixcms.org) sites have been upgraded with this new version (0.6.5).

See you for the next release !

Mapix CMS 0.6 in progress

Mapix CMS is a new, lite and full XML CMS. The back office itself is handled by Mapix CMS : Mapix CMS is the first meta-CMS !

Mapix CMS actual version (0.5.5) is functional but does not provide an interface for "non-coders" : XML contents and the XML sitemap (mapix.xml) can only be edited using an online text editor. This requires to know how XML works and the defined XML schemas. (such as mapix.xsd or content.xsd)

I am currently implementing a generic XML editor : a HTML form is generated from the XML file, that allows to simply and quickly edit any XML file without knowing anything about XML or any particular schema.

In the same time, I am integrating several javascript and ajax functions to the folder editor, so that it will be as near as possible from a desktop user interface.

Mapix CMS 0.6 back office will be really different from the previous ones. I want it to be full-featured and lite-coded and that unfortunately takes me a lot of time...

So that's the reason why you didn't get your monthly release ! Mapix CMS 0.6 (or later) will certainly be released before the end of the year. Let's say this will be your christmas present, I hope you will enjoy it ;)

If you can't wait opening your present, you can test and look how this new version will look like, in the CVS : Go to Code > CVS Browse, or use a CVS client to checkout this new version.

If you are even more impatient and want to get Mapix CMS 0.6 full-featured faster, then just contact me to get part of the project and help me developping Mapix CMS : This would be MY christmas present ;)

Thank you for your patience and see you soon for the next release.

Mapix CMS 0.5.5 released

Mapix CMS is a simple and light CMS based on XML standards : XML content, XSL templates, XML Schemas, RSS, Google sitemaps...No database is needed.

This new version improves the navigation through folders and files.

Images are now displayed as thumbnails and can be edited via an image editor with drag and drop functionalities such as resize, crop and rotate.

Mapix CMS back-office is now compatible with Internet Explorer.

Unfortunately, the XML document editor is still in "read only" mode, but I have planned to work exclusively on this feature for the next release.

The official website (http://mapixcms.org) and the demo site (http://demo.mapixcms.org) will soon be upgraded with this version.

See you soon, and thank you for using Mapix CMS !

Mapix CMS 0.4.4 released : security fixes and a new skin

Mapix previous versions didn't really deal with security issues concerning session identification or direct access to xml resources.

This version allows you to use Mapix for production purpose with less risk for your website to be hacked.

We have also changed the design and added some minor functionalities.

Unfortunately, the XML editor isn't yet available in write mode, but it will certainly be for the next release !

We also have some great news to announce : the official website http://mapixcms.org will be soon available and a demo site http://demo.mapixcms.org will be online too, to allow you to try mapix before you install it.

See you soon.
